Siam Piwat Group is a leading property and retail developer - the owner and operator of global destinations, including Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and a joint venture partner of ICONSIAM, ICS, and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok. The company is moving forward to become the first retail property developer in Thailand to collaborate with leading global brands and organizations to join forces on sustainability and achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals together. This goal aligns with the company's commitment to conducting business in accordance with global standards.

Siam Piwat Group recently joined a global environmental conservation event by participating in the 2023 SPOGOMI WORLD CUP, the first-ever global litter-picking competition, held in Tokyo, Japan by Nippon Foundation. The company proudly sponsored the Thai national team, which won the 2023 SPOGOMI WORLD CUP, THAILAND STAGE competition, organized by a joint effort of Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. and G-YU Creative Co., Ltd. in July 2023 at Siam Paragon. At the event in Tokyo, Siam Piwat also invited representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo to join in supporting the Thai national team.

The 2023 SPOGOMI WORLD CUP, a global litter-picking competition to raise awareness of environmental issues, saw 21 countries compete. The United Kingdom team won the championship, and the Thai national team placed 12th.

Aiming to be the first net-zero shopping mall in Thailand, Ms. Naratipe Ruttapradid, Chief Operating Officer of Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., also presented Siam Piwat Group’s vision for sustainability management and business policies, to representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo and the Shinagawa Ward, Japan, on the occasion of a joint environmental volunteer activity to mark the birthday of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the National Day, and Father's Day on December 5, 2023, at the auditorium of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo.

Ms. Naratipe Ruttapradid, Siam Piwat Co., Ltd. stated that "Driven by the commitment of Siam Piwat Group to leverage its potential and business network to drive a model city, targeting to be a center that cares about environmental restoration in the heart of the city, promoting renewable energy, and managing waste in a 360-degree manner under the Siam Piwat 360° Waste Journey to Zero Waste project, we aim to achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, or ‘Net Zero,’ by 2050.”

"We also leverage our strengths in organizing global events to create environmental activities. By joining forces with partners from the public and private sectors, we have organized SPOGOMI WORLD CUP 2023 THAILAND STAGE, the first litter-picking competition in Thailand, to select Thailand's representatives to compete in this global litter-picking competition."

In addition, Siam Piwat Group’s executive also discussed the business operations and project management, which have been adapted to be sustainable businesses under the Above the Ocean strategy. Ms. Naratipe Ruttapradid said, "We see business in a new context. We aim to operate without boundaries and competitors but are full of partners in order to create an ecosystem for greater success and grow together sustainably. We also develop the potential of our employees to help drive the sustainability agenda from generation to generation."

Above the Ocean is a strategy that has enabled Siam Piwat Group to evolve from one of the leading retail and property industries to a future-ready organization that can connect business, people, and the planet (Prosperity People Planet) as one. We can achieve this by creating an ecosystem where all parties in the value chain benefit and grow sustainably together.

For the environment and planet restoration, our goal is to become a Regeneration Hub to manage energy and resources efficiently, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For example, our Solar Rooftop project produces electricity from solar energy, which is a renewable and clean energy source with no fuel costs. We have already set a target and announced that we will use 100% renewable energy by 2030.

To promote effective waste management among Thais, we have established the Siam Piwat 360° Waste Journey to Zero Waste project by utilizing space within our shopping malls as recycling collection centers (RCCs). In collaboration with our partners, cleaned and sorted waste is then sent to recycling facilities to be repurposed or upcycled into lifestyle products such as bags, clothes, hats, keychains, etc. Some of these products are sold in our Ecotopia, a dedicated area for sustainable products. We also offer customers and the public who bring their waste to our RCCs to exchange it for VIZ coins through ONESIAM SuperApp. This helps to encourage people to change their behavior by sorting their waste and seeing how it can be transformed from something worthless into something valuable and beneficial. Our goal is to reduce landfill waste by 50% by 2030.

As a result of the environmental activities that Siam Piwat Group has implemented, it has been able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 18,825 tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to planting 1,981,535 trees.

The company's executive concluded, “Siam Piwat is committed to driving sustainability with a key mission to achieve sustainable development in Thailand and pass on a livable world to everyone and future generations.”
