Bangkok (January 23, 2025): Siam Piwat – a leading real estate and retail developer, the operator of world-renowned destinations, such as Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and a joint owner of ICONSIAM and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok – has reaffirmed its commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion by championing opportunities across all aspects of its operations, from business practices and customer service to social and community engagement. In its latest initiative, Siam Piwat has provided Paragon Hall on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon as the venue for Thailand’s first-ever marriage equality registrations, marking a historic milestone not only for Thailand but also for the ASEAN region.

As Thailand becomes Southeast Asia’s first country to enact marriage equality legislation, Siam Piwat has joined forces with Naruemit Pride Co., Ltd., as organizer of Bangkok Pride, to organize Marriage Equality Day to commemorate this historic milestone. In addition, Siam Piwat has provided Paragon Hall on the 5th floor of Siam Paragon as the venue to host Thailand’s first marriage equality registrations on January 23, 2025. This landmark event will allow LGBTQIAN+ couples to officially celebrate love and equal rights in Thai society – a historic first in Southeast Asia. The event will culminate on Valentine’s Day, with the organizers seeking to register 1,448 couples and set a new Guinness World Record.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, who spearheaded the marriage equality legislation, along with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and other distinguished guests. Ms. Chadatip Chutrakul, Siam Piwat Group’s Chief Executive Officer, and Ms. Mayuree Chaipromprasith, President of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., were also present at this landmark Marriage Equality Day celebration to welcome guests.

Siam Piwat is committed to championing equality and celebrating diversity while fostering creative participation to deliver exceptional experiences for all communities. Among the initiatives the company has taken in this regard is advancement of universal design and inclusive tourism across its shopping centers to ensure convenient, safe, and inclusive access for all visitors. Additionally, Siam Center was Thailand’s first shopping center to join UNDP Thailand in affirming its commitment to diversity and equality in 2019 and has also collaborated with various partners to celebrate marriage equality and supported the annual Pride Month celebration Bangkok Pride Festival as a principal organizer over recent years.

Furthermore, to reinforce its position as an organization for diversity and equality, Siam Piwat has increased its employee benefits program, with the package now covering leave for gender affirmation surgery, gender-inclusive marriage ceremonies, bereavement for parents and LGBTQIAN+ partners, and Buddhist ordination for monks and nuns, as well as a monetary gift for marriages and adoptions for LGBTQIAN+ couples and bereavement support for married LGBTQIAN+ partners.
